intramuscular injection | introduction of medication into the muscularlayer of the body |
intravenous therapy | the adminstration of a liquid agent directly into a patient's vein, where it is distributed throughout the body via the circulatory system (known as IV) |

sublingual adminstration | adminstration of medication by placing it under the tongue, where it dissolves & is absorbed through the mucous membrane |
subscription | the part of the prescription that give directions to the pharmacist & usually designates the number of doses to be dispensed |
superscription | the part of a prescripion consisting of the symbol Rx (from the Latin word recipe, meaning "take") |
topical adminstration | application of a drug to a particular spot, usually for a local action |
transfusion | the adminstration of whole blood or blood products through the intravenous route |
vial | a closed glass container with a rubber stopper that holds medication |
wheal | a small raised area of the skin |
