What is the principle repetition?   Use of similar or connected pictorial elements  
How does texture affect color?   Creates shadowing,changing the color in different shades.  
What do curved lines suggest?   Create a sense of flow within an image.  
What is the difference between horizontal, vertical, and radial balance?   They each add variety so that the artwork has rhythm and energy.  
What do diagonal lines suggest?   Convey a feeling of movement.  
What is space?   Space is the area provided for a particular purpose.  
What are the four types of rhythm?   Repetition, Gradation, Radiation, Opposition/Trasition  
What is asymmetrical balance? Example?   Creates more interesting arrangements; not same on both sides  
What is the difference between horizontal and vertical lines?   Horizontal makes room look wider, vertical lines look taller.  
What is the golden mean?   If the ratio of the sum of the quantities to the larger quantity is equal to the ratio of the larger quantity to the smaller one.  
What is the difference between shape and form?   Shapes are 2-D, forms are 3-D  
What are the five types of balance?   Radial, Symmetrical, Asymmetrical  
What does unity or harmony mean?   Things belonging together and making up a coherent whole.  
What are the two things texture involves?   Touch and what you think it should feel like.  
What are the four types of line?   Diagonal, curved, horizontal, vertical  
What is proportion?   Involves the relationship between sizes - scale.  
Which of the five types of balance suggests excitement or interest?   Asymmetrical  
What is symmetrical balance? Example?   Everything is the same on both sides.  
What is emphasis? What is another name for it?   Where your eye is drawn; focal point.  
What happens when you use a continuous line?   Makes eye travel with line.  
What is another name for symmetrical balance?   Reflection  
What is another name for asymmetrical balance?   Irregular  
What is the difference between gradation and radiation?   Gradation is a gradual change and radiation is something coming out from the middle or focal point.
