| Respect | to believe in the dignity and worth of an individual regardless of his/her unacceptable behaviors. "unconditional regard"

| Genuinesness | Refers to the person's ability to be open, honest, & "real" in interactions with the client.

| Empathy | Is a process where an individual is able to see beyond outward behavior and sense accurately another's inner experience at a given point in time.

| Sympathy | Sharing what the client is feeling and experiencing a need to alleviate distress. This is NON-THERAPEUTIC.....
