Charybdis and Scylla   Dwelt in same Sicilian sea as the Sirens. Charybdis, daughter of Poseidon and the earth, was a whirlpool who swallowed ships. Scylla, once a beautiful woman, was changed into a monster, with six ugly heads.

Sigmund   A hero not a god. Pulled sword from tree trunk in which Odin had placed it. Died at Odin's insistence.

Sigurd   Sigmund's son, inheritor of the sword. Sometimes known as Siegfried.

Mimir   A water demon. Odin's uncle and wisest counselor. Lived by the roots of the ash tree Yggdrasil known as the "world tree." Lived in a fountain in which all wisdom and knowledge were hidden.

Kvasir   Made from the mingled saliva of the two races of gods - Aesir and Vanir. Surpassed all men i wisdom. He was killed and his blood was mixed with honey - drinker would become a sage and poet.

Magni and Modi   Thor's sons. Magni was strength and Modi was anger.

Idun   The goddess who owned the magic apples which gave all of the gods and goddess eternal youth and immortality.

Heimdall   God of light. Presided over ambiguous beginning of things. Guardian of all the gods.

Balder   Son of Frigg. So beautiful he shed radiance all around himself. Wisest and favorite of gods.

Njord   A Vanir rather than an Aesir. Peaceful, benevolent and mighty. Provided fields and pastures with sun and rain. God of harvests, game, riches, commerce and navigation. Guarantor of oaths.

Freja   Female equivalent of Frey - his sister. Lived in Folkvang, a rich dwelling in the sky where she received the deceased warriors and assigned them seats in her banqueting hall. First and supreme commander of the Valkyires.

Skadi   Njord's wife. Daughter of a giant.  
🗑
Gerda   Frey's wife, also the daughter of a giant.
