How did Alexander the Great spread Greek ideas throughout the rest of the Mediterranean region and into Asia?   He used his careful observation of people to study their cultures and tranditions and used that knowledge to help blend different cultures together into one empire.

Why was Alexander such as effective leader and so successful in all that he did?   Alexander studied people, he honored their traditions and cultures, he treated people fairly and with respect.

Why were the epic poems by Homer (The Illiad and the Odyssey) as well as stories about gods and heroes so important to the Greeks?   The Greeks used those stories to insprire them towards how they should act and what they should try to be.

Why was the developiment of the Greek alphabet so important to Greek culture?   It gave opportunities for many more Greeks to be able to read and write because they only needed to learn a few characters to make all of the sounds in Greek language.

What method did Socrates use to challenge people about their beliefs and decisions?   Socrates used a method of listening carefully and questioning people about their beliefs. He rarely gave any answers, he more reflected the things that he heard people saying.

What was women's role in Greek society?   Women were not given equal rights with men. They were primarily responsible for keeping the home and monitoring the children.

What was the role of children in Greek society?   Children were not revered in Ancient Greece. Many died early in their lives and they were generally supposed to be seen but not heard.

Who were some of the gods that the Greeks worshipped?   List any gods here and explain who they were.

What was the purpose for the Greek Olympics?   The Olympics were ceremonies meant to honor Zeus. They were athletic competitions where the athletes represented their city-states to be known as the best at what they did.

What were some of the contributions of the Ancient Greeks?   Words in our language, Greek alphabet, goverment (democracy), anthropology, math (Pythagoras), mythology and poetry (Homer), etc...
