Term
Definition
Base   A number multiplied by itself the number of times shown by an exponent.
🗑
Exponent   The number that tells how many times the base is multiplied by itself.
🗑
Evaluate   To find a value that an algebraic expression names by replacing a variable with a given value.
🗑
Numerical Expression   A mathematical phrase involving only numbers and one or more operational symbols.
🗑
Sum   The answer in an addition problem.
🗑
Difference   The answer in a subtraction problem.
🗑
Product   The answer in a multiplication problem.
🗑
Quotient   The answer in a division problem.
🗑
Term   A single number of variable or numbers and variable multiplied together. Terms are separated by + or - signs.
🗑
Factor   A number that divides another number without a remainder.
🗑
Coefficient   The number that is multiplied by a variable in an algebraic expression. For example: for 6x + 5, the coefficient is 6.
🗑
Algebraic Expression   The mathematical phrase that has at least one variable and one operation.
🗑
Substitute   Replacing the variable of an expression or equation with a number.
🗑
Order of Operations   A set of rules mathematicians use to determine the order in which operations are performed
🗑
Generate   To produce or create.
🗑
Equivalent Expressions   Expressions that equal the same amount.
🗑
Commutative Property   The property that states the order of the addends or the order of factors does not affect the sum or product.
🗑
Associative Property   The property that states the way in which addends or factors are grouped does not affect the sum or product.
🗑
Distributive Property   Multiplying a sum (or difference) by a number is the same as multiplying each number in the sum (or difference) by the number and adding (or subtracting) the products.

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
