Term
Definition
range   the difference between the highest number and the lowest number
🗑
data   Information
🗑
Population   Entire group being considered for survey
🗑
Sample   Part of the population being surveyed
🗑
histogram   A bar graph representing frequency distribution for certain ranges or intervals. No Gaps between bars.
🗑
bar graph   Compares data values (no intervals).
🗑
line graph   uses lines to join points which represent the data over time
🗑
scatter plot   a graphical diagram with points plotted to show a relationship between two variables
🗑
outlier   a value far away from most of the data in a set of data
🗑
box and whisker (box plot)   a diagram or graph using a number line to show the distribution of a set of data; displays the median, upper and lower quartiles, and the maximum and minimum values of the data
🗑
pie graph or circle graph   a graph using a divided circle where each section represents part of the total
🗑
Mean Average.   Add up all the numbers and divide by how many numbers there are.
🗑
Median   Put all numbers in order from smallest to largest, then find the middle number. If there are two numbers in the middle, add them up and divide by two.
🗑
Mode   The number that occurs the most.
🗑
Bar Graph   a graph that uses vertical or horizontal bars to show comparisons among two or more items
🗑
Double Bar Graph   a display used to show two sets of related data with vertical or horizontal bars
🗑
Scatter Plot   A graphed cluster of dots, each of which represents the values of two variables. The slope of the points suggests the direction of the relationship between the two variables. The amount of scatter suggests the strength of the correlation
🗑
Distribution   A way to show the arrangement of data values

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
