Absolute Value   The distance a number is from zero on a number line.

Discount   The amount by which a regularly priced item is reduced.

Equilateral Triangle   A triangle with ALL sides congruent.

Equivalent Expressions   Have the same value BUT are presented in a different form using the properties.

Equivalent Ratios   Two or more ratios with the same value.

Fraction   A part of a whole.

Integer   Whole numbers and their opposites.

Interest   Money paid or earned on money borrowed or invested.

Isosceles Triangle   A triangle with 2 sides congruent.

Like Terms   Terms that have the same variables and/or are raised to the same powers.

Markdown   The amount deducted from a cost price to determine a new selling price.

Markup   An amount added to the cost price to determine a selling price.

Numerator   The top number of a fraction. (The Dividend)

Obtuse Angle   Between 90 and 180 degrees

Percent of Change   A ratio comparing the amount of change to the original amount.

Principal   Amount of money borrowed or invested.

Proportion   Two equivalent ratios

Rate   Comparison of two quantities with different units.

Ratio   Comparison of two quantities by division.

Rational Number   Any number that can be expressed as a ratio of two integers.

Right Angle   Exactly 90 degrees

Right Triangle   A triangle with one right angle.

Sales Tax   An ADDITIONAL amount of money charged on items people buy.

Scale   A ratio that compares the measurements used in a scale drawing with the actual measurements.

Scale Drawing/Model   Shows an object with its measurements in proportion to the actual measurement of the object

Scale Factor   A constant of proportionality. (A scale written as a ratio in simplest form)

Scalene Triangle   A triangle with NO congruent sides.

Simple Interest Formula   I = prt

Terms   Parts of a math sentence/problem that are separated by addition and subtraction symbols.

Tip/Gratuity   A small sum of money given to people for providing a service.

Unit Rate   A rate simplified to a denominator of one.

Variable   Placeholder, usually a letter that represents an unknown number.

Whole Numbers   Zero and the counting numbers.

Obtuse Triangle   A triangle with one obtuse angle.

Algebra   The branch of math that involves both numbers and letters.

Radius   Half the distance across a circle from the center to any outside point.

Diameter   The full distance across a circle and must go through the center point.

Complementary Angles   Two angles whose sum is 90 degrees.

Supplementary Angles   Two angles whose sum is 180 degrees.

Linear Pairs   Two angles that are adjacent and supplementary.

Adjacent Angles   Two angles that share a common ray and common vertex.

Vertical Angles   Two angles that are opposite and formed by intersecting lines. Must be congruent to be vertical.
