Equation | says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign

Variable | a symbol for a number we don't know yet. It is usually a letter like x or y.

Constant | a number on its own in an equation

Coefficient | a number used to multiply a variable

Operator | is a symbol (such as +, ×, etc) that shows an operation (ie we want to do something with the values).

Term | a single number or a variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together

Expression | a group of terms (the terms are separated by + or − signs)

Exponent | says how many times to use the value in a multiplication.

Polynomial | monomial or the sum of monomials.

Monomial | A constant (a number), a variable, or a product of constants and/or variables.

Binomial | A polynomial with two terms.

Trinomial | a polynomial with three terms

Like Terms | terms whose variables (and their exponents such as the 2 in x2) are the same.

Coordinates of a Point | The numbers of an ordered pair.

Function | A relation in which each element of the domain is paired with exactly one element of the range.

||||
Ordered Pair | A pair of numbers that identifies the location of a particular point on a graph.

||||
Origin (on a graph) | The point of intersection of the coordinate axes. It is designated (0. 0).

|
||||
x-axis | The horizontal axis.
🗑
|
||||
y-axis | The vertical axis.
🗑
|
||||
Linear Equation in 2 Variables | An equation of the form y = mx + b.

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.
