Recession   The landward movement of the coastline due to marine erosion   (blank)  
Accretion   The incremental movement seawards due to marine deposition   (blank)  
Sediment Starvation   Loss of sediment supply to an area due usually to human activity   ie. groyne construction "updrift" of the site  
Distributaries   River branches that split apart from the main channel and do not rejoin it   Associated with deltas  
Delta Environment   The geomorphological and ecological conditions associated with deltas   (blank)  
Risk Assessment   A technique for assessing the risk of damage to an area due to a hazard such as coastal flooding   (blank)  
Reccurance Levels   The frequency with which particular levels of hazards such as flooding are likely to recur   (blank)  
Climatic Change   Changes to the nature of the climate either locally or globally   This has occured throughout the planet's history due to natural causes. In recent times human action , notably the emission of greenhouse gasses released into the atmosphere  
Global Warming   The steady increase in the global mean temperature experienced over the past century.   This is thought not to be natural but caused or enhanced by human action, notably the emisssion of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere.
