| Neuromuscular | Can initially be quite dramatic. Nervous system adaptations may improve the central command of the muscles (brain control) & enhance certain reflex responses. Training with weights improves the body's ability to call upon motor units to exert force.

| Muscle Enlargement | 4-6 weeks before noticeable changes occur in muscle size (hypertrophy)which results from: Increased size & # of actin & myosin filaments. Increase in # of sarcromeres in mucle fibres. Increase in # of capillaries in muscle.
