Hydroureter   The distention of the ureter with urine that cannot flow because the ureter is blocked

Hypospadias   Is a congenital abnormality of the urethral opening. In a male it is UNDER the surface of the penis. In a female, the urethral opening is INTO the vagina

Interstital Cysitis   Chronic inflammation of the walls of the bladder, symptoms of this condition are similar to those of cystitis, however, they do not respond to traditional treatment.

Lithotomy   Surgical incision for the removal of a stone from the bladder

NephreCtasis   Distention of the pelvis of the kidney

Nephropathy   Meaning any disease of the kidney both degenerative or inflammatory conditions.

Nephrostomy   Establishment of an opening from the pelvis of the kidney to the exterior of the body. In a kidney affected by hydronephorsis, this allows bypassing of the ureter because the urine form the kidney is drained directly through the back

Neurogenic Bladder   Urinary problem caused by interference with the normal nerve pathways associated with urination

Nocturia   Is excessive urination during the night

Nocturnal Enuresis   Urinary incontinence during sleep Aka… Bed wetting

Oliguria   Means scanty urination, opposite of polyuria

Peritoneal Dialysis   The lining of the peritoneal cavity acts as a filter to remove waste from the blood The dialysate solution flows into the peritoneal cavity & the fluid is exchanged through a catheter implanted in the abdominal wall

Polyuria   Means excessive urination

prostatism   Condition of having symptoms resulting from compression or obstruction of the urethra due to benign prostatic hypertrophy. This can produce difficulties with urination and with urinary retention.

Pyelotomy   Surgical incision into the renal pelvis performed to correct an obstruction of the junction between the renal pelvis and the ureter.

Uremia   Toxic condition resulting from renal failure in which kidney function is compromised and urea is retained in the blood

Wilm’s Tumor   Malignant tumor of the kidney that occurs in young children. There is a high cure rate for this condition when treated properly
