Question
Answer
Outline what happens in telophase 2   Nuclear membrane reforms around the haploid nuclei. This gives 4 haploid cells
🗑
Outline the events that take place in anaphase 2   The centromeres divide and the chromatids are pulled apart to opposite poles of the cell by spindle fibres. Chromosomes randomly segregate
🗑
What happens during metaphase 2?   Chromosomes arrange themselves on the equator of the spindle. They are attached to spindle via the centromeres. The chromatids of each chromosome are randomly assorted.
🗑
What happens during prophase 2?   If the nuclear envelope has reformed, it breaks down again. The nucleolus disappears as chromosomes condense and spindle forms.
🗑
Outline the events that take place in telophase 1   Two nuclear envelopes form. Cells divide by cytokinesis to form two haploid new cells
🗑
Outline what happens during anaphase 1   The homologous chromosomes in each bivalent are pulled apart by the shortening of spindle fibres. Centromeres stay undivided. Chiasmata separates and new combinations of alleles occur
🗑
Outline the events that take place during metaphase 1   Bivalents line along the equator of the cell and attach to spindle fibres at the centromere. The bivalents randomly assort themselves on the equator and this allows them to randomly segregate
🗑
What happens during prophase 1?   Chromatin condenses and supercoils. Homologous chromosomes come together to form a bivalent. Chiasma can dorm between non-sister chromatids. Nucleolus disappears and the nuclear envelope disintegrates. A spindle of protein microtubules form.

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
