| Slow Twitch Fibres (type I) | relatively fatigue-resistant, low activation thresholds, long lasting, low intensity activities, endurance strength training | daily activities, endurance strength training

| Fast Twitch Fibres, Fatigue Resistant (type II A) | contract more quickly and forcefully than slow twitch fibres, but fatigue more rapidly. Used for polonged and relatively high force output. | middle distance events, strength training

| Fast Twitch Fibres (type II B) | short term energy supply provided anaerobically, high force production but fatigue quickly. | sprinting, strength training (3 reps max)
