| Short story | a brief work of fiction

| Static character | a character that does not change much in the course of the story

| Protagonist | main character in a fiction or drama. The character on which we focus our attention

| Direct characterization | the author directly states what kind of person the character is: sneaky, honest, innocent, etc.

| Dynamic character | a character that changes because of the story’s events

| Flat character | a character that has only one or two traits and these can be described in a few words. These characters have no depth, like a piece of cardboard

| Antagonist | the character or force that blocks the protagonist, often the villain of the story
🗑
|
||||
| Round character | similar to a real person, these characters have many different traits, which can sometimes contradict one another.

| Indirect characterization | The reader has to use his/her judgment to decide what a character is like, based on the evidence the writer gives him/her

| Character | person in a story, poem, or play – usually a regular human being

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.
To hide a column, click on the column name.
To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.
You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.
Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
