Question
Answer
What was Cyclone Heta   Cyclone Heta was a category 5 cyclone that hit Niue on the 6th of January 2004. Cyclone Cyclone Heta reached cyclone strength on New Years day 2004 in a deserted part of the Pacific ocean at 12S of the equator.
🗑
What things allowed Cyclone Heta to be created?   A water temperature of 27.5 degrees allowed for the evaporation to occur which would create a low that would soon form Heta. This temperature was present due to the insolation from the sun as the ITCZ allows for all year round overhead sun.
🗑
What made Heta spin?   When Heta wa forming the Coriolis Force(The force of the earth spinning) allowed for Heta to spin as it was between 5-15N/S of the equator. Also when Heta reached a high enough altitude it was subject to trade winds which sucked the centre of Heta out.
🗑
How does a Cyclone Function?   A Cyclone may use heat from the sun to function and use as energy and it may also use latent heat. Latent Heat is the heat taken from the Ocean and then converted to energy to be used by the cyclone. A Cyclone may stop when it hits a large landmass.
🗑
How did it impact on the land of Niue?   Storm Surges of up to 30m destroyed the coral reefs and coastal caves
