gallon   A standard unit of capacity that is equal to 16 cups, 8 pints, or 4 quarts.

gram   A metric unit of mass that is equal to 1/1000 of a kilogram.

ounce   A standard unit of weight or capacity. In weight, an ounce is 1/16 of a pound. 16oz=1 lb. In capacity, an ounce is 1/8 of a cup. 8oz.=1 cup

pint   A standard unit of capacity equal to 2 cups. 1 pt. = 2 cups

pound   A standard unit of weight equal to 16 ounces. 16 oz = 1 lb.

quart   A standard unit of capacity equal to 2 pints or 4 cups. 1 quart = 2 pints

quarter past   Refers to 15 minutes past the hour--the minute hand will be pointing to the three on the clock 6:15=quarter past 6

quarter to   Refers to 45 minutes past the hour--or fifteen minutes until the next hour 5:45=quarter to 6 (the next hour!)

mass   A measure of how much matter is in an object. For example, a bowling ball on Earth would weigh 10 lb, but on the moon it would weight less. Its mass never changed!

measure   To figure out the weight, capacity, length, etc of an object.

milliliter   A metric unit of measurement equal to 1/1000 of a Liter.

minute   A unit of time equal to 60 seconds. 60 seconds = 1 minute

month   A unit of time equal to about 30 days or 1/12 of a year.
