German Measles cause? Similar to? Congenital Rubella syndrome--similar to measles
What does congenital rubella syndrom cause? When? Severe birth dfects if mom is infection in FIRST trimester (only)
Prevent? Test mom before marriage and give MMR vaccine
Does the vaccine gurantee immunity? Heck no!
Fifth Disease is due to? Causes? Butterfly rash on face
Treatment? Self-limiting-->none
Roseola due to? Causes? common adult rash
What are the five exanthems? Varicella, measles, rubella, roseola, and Fifth disease
What is varicella? Chickenpox
What is it due to/ Herpes virus
What is Primary varicella? Pus filled chicken pox
What does a relapse cause?????? In whom does it happen? What is it???? SHINGLES or secondary zoster that happens in adults when the virus is reactivated!!! Very PAINFUL AND BAD
What can be caused if this diases is treated with aspirin? Reye's disease (brain damage)
What shouldn't you give a child with chicken pox? Aspirin!!
Whjat is Small pox due to? Variola virus
Why is it a concern if it has been succesfully eradicated??? Biowarfare
What is its spread? Human->human
Prevention and treatment? Give cow pox treatment (worked for milk-maids) and monkey pox
