Climate Regions

What climate region always has temperatures of 18 degree Celsius or above? tropical rainy
What climate region occurs wherever potential evaporation is greater than precipitation and may be hot or cold? dry
What climate region has an average temperature of 10 degrees C or above in the warmest month, and between -3 degrees C and 18 degrees C in the coldest month? temperate marine
What climate region has average temperature 10 deg C or above in warmest month, and -3 deg C or below in coldest month? temperate continental
What climate region has an average temperature below 10 degree C in the warmest month? polar
What climate region is generally cooler and wetter than nearby lowlands, with temperature decreasing as altitude increases? highlands
What are savannas? tropical grasslands; has distinct dry and rainy seasons
What are deserts? Areas that are arid (dry) and get less than 25 centimeters of rain every year. Some are hot & sandy; some are cold & rocky
What is a steppe? Semiarid climate; usually located on the edge of a desert; dry but gets enough rainfall for short grasses and bushes to grow. May also be called a praire or grassland.Great Plains is one.
What are humid subtropical climates like? wet & warm, but not as constantly hot as the tropics; ex: southeastern U.S.
What are subartic climates like? Summers are short & cool; winters are long and bitterly cold; include areas of Russia, Canada, and Alaska
