| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Independent Variable | Manipulated variable- intentionally changed in an experiment |
| Dependent Variable | Responding variable- changes as a result of the change in the independent variable |
| Control Variable | A variable that is not changed during an experiment |
| Conduction | Transfer of heat energy from one particle of a substance to another |
| Convection | Transfer of heat energy in a liquid or a gas through differences in density |
| Radiation | Transfer of energy through space by electromagnetic waves |
| Fusion | The combining of nuclei of lighter elements to form a heavier element |
| Consistency | The experiment is done the same way each time |
| Accuarcy | All measurements recorded with minimal errors |
| Precision | Data values are close to each other |
| Reproducibility | Experimental procedure can be repeated the same way by anyone |
| Validity | Valid conclusion- keeps control variables the same, measurements consistent and accurate |
| Reliability | Results are reliable when data is consistent, accurate, precise, multiple trials are averaged |
| Density | The ration between the mass and the volume of a substance |
| Density Formula | D = M/V |
