Stoichiometry
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Mole? | Atomic Mass in grams. |
| Co-Efficient? | The large number in a balanced equation which shows the number of Representative Particles of each substance. |
| What 2 things do the Co-efficients in balanced equations signify? | -# of representative particles.-# of moles. |
| Stoichiometry? | The arithemetic of balanced equations. |
| Why do scientists balance equations? | To demonstrate the Law of the Conservation of Mass. |
| What process will most often solve Stoichiometric problems? | Dimensional Analysis. |
| 1 Mole equals how many Liters of gas at STP? | 22.4 L. |
| 1 Mole equals how many grams? | The Atomic Mass of the substance in grams. |
| 1 Mole equals how many Representative Particles? | Avogadro's Number of Representative Particles. |
| What is Avogadro's Number? | Number of Representative Particles in 1 Mole of a substance. |
| Limiting Reagent? | The reactant in a chemical equation which limits the amount of product that can be produced. |
| How can the Limiting Reactant be discovered? | Divide the Real # of moles of a substance used in reaction by the Theoretical # of moles of that substance in the balanced equation. The substance with the smallest % of necessary moles is the Limiting Reactant. |
| Percent Yield equation? | Percent Yield = Actual Yield / Theoretical Yield. |
| What does "in excess" mean? | The reactant that is NOT the Limiting Reagent. |
| First step in solving Dimensional Analysis problem. | Write problem to be solved... Known = Unknown |
