| colpocleisis | procedure in which the vagina is closed by sutures |
| colporrphaphy | surgical repair of the walls of the vagina |
| conization | removal of a cone-shaped piece of tissue from the cervix |
| cytological smear | test in which the cells from the cervix are studied by smearing them on a slide; Pap test or Papanicolaou test |
| dialtaion and curettage (D & C) | procedure where the opening to the cervix is widened and insturments are passed into the cervix to scrape the lining of the uterus |
| endometrial biopsy | microscopic examination of a section of the uterus lining |
| hysterectomy | removal of the uterus; total hysterectomy = panhysterecetomy |
| insemination | act of placing semen into the female reproductive organs for the purpose of creating pregnancy |
| myomectomy | removal of a tumor of the uterine muscle |
| oophorectomy | removal of an ovary |
| pelvic examination | procedure in which the internal female reproductive organs located in the pelvis are examined |

| salpingo-oophorectomy | removal of an ovary and a uterine tube |
