Carnivore An animal that only eats other animals; secondary consumer
Competition The struggle between two organisms to obtain the same resources in an ecosystem
Consumed To have been used; can also be used to describe an animal eating another organism
Decomposer An organism in the food chain that breaks down the remains of dead organisms
Habitat The environment in which an animal or plant lives
Herbivore An animal that eats only plants; primary consumer
Niche The role or job an organism in an ecosystem
Omnivore An animal that eats both plants and animals; consumer
Predator An animal that hunts down other animals; carnivore; secondary consumer
Prey An animal that is hunted down and eaten by other animals; herbivore; primary consumer
Primary Consumer An animal in the food chain that only eats plants; herbivore
Producer An organism, such as a plant, that can makes its own food
Scavenger An animal, such as a bird or insect, that searches for food and feeds on dead or decaying matter
Secondary Consumer An animal within a food chain that eats other animals; predator; carnivore
