Equinox When the night and day is the same amount of time
Vernal Equinox On March 21, it is when there is an equal number of hours of day and night due to the fact that the sun is directly over the equator
Summer Solstice On June 21, it is the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere due to the fact that the sun is directly over the tropic of Cancer
Autumnal Equinox On September 23, the sun is over the equator (same as the Vernal Equinox)
Winter Solstice On December 22, the shortest day of the Northern hemisphere due to the fact that the Sun is directly over the Tropic of Capricorn
Map Scale the relationship between a certain distance on the map and the distance on the ground
Scale Statement a word statement giving a written description of the scale
Representative fraction a ratio indicating how many units on the Earth’s surface equal to one unit on the map
Linear Scale a direct measure of the distance over the ground represented by the corresponding distance on the map
