Concepts of CultureDefinition
ACULTURATION is a process in which members of one cultural group adopt the beliefs and behaviors of another group
ASSIMILATION is a process of consistent integration whereby members of an ethno-cultural group (such as immigrants, or minority groups) are "absorbed" into an established, generally larger community. This presumes a loss of many characteristics of the absorbed group.
CULTURAL ADAPTION Cultural adaptation is the process of fine-tuning a message or concept to the preferences of a specific target audience, often defined by cultural heritage, language and ethnicity.
CORE PERIPHERY MODEL the economic and political relationship existing between one more highly developed country or region and the less developed countries or regions in contact with it
CULTURAL ECOLOGY the study of human interaction with ecosystems to determine how nature influences and is influenced by human social organization and culture
CULTURAL IDENTITY identity of a group or culture, or of an individual as far as she/he is influenced by her/his belonging to a group or culture
CULTURAL LANDSCAPE the landscape inhabited by a human group, including any modifications and constructions and the special meanings assigned to specific places
CULTURAL REALM an area with its own distinct culture(language, religion, food, clothes etc)
CULTURE the accumulated habits, attitudes, and beliefs of a group of people that define for them their general behavior and way of life; the total set of learned activities of a people
DIFFUSION TYPES the process of dissemination, the spread of an idea or innovation from its hearth to other areas(ex. contagious, hierarchical, stimulus, relocation)
