Index With a radical sign, the index indicates the degree of the root.
Like Radicals Like radicals are radical expressions that have the same index and the same radicand
Principal Root When a number has two real roots, the positive root is called the principal root. A radical sign indicates the principal root.
Rational Exponent If the nth root of a is a real number and m is an integer, then = and = = . If m is negative, a ≠ 0.
Radicand The number under a radical sign.
