Population Density Average # of people who live on each square mile of land
Birthrate Ratio of total births to total population for a specific community or nation at a specific period.
Deathrate Ratio of total deaths to total population for a specific community or nation at a specific period.
Migration Moving to another place to live for a while.
emigrants Someone who leaves a country to settle in a new country.
Immigrants Person that comes to a country to settle to permanently settle from another country.
push factors factor that leaves one with no choice but to leave home, country, region, organization or religion.
Pull factors lure of another country, region, organization or religion.
refugees person seeking refuge in foreign countries from fear of political persecution.
Assimilation People of different backgrounds coming together to see themselves as a larger national family.
Culture Arts, Customs, and habits that characterize a specific society or nation.
Culture Traits behavior consistent in a culture.
Culture Region region with one relatively human activity or complex of activities.
Ethnic Groups A group of people who identify with one another, especially with racial, cultural, or religious grounds.
Innovation A change in customs, something new
Diffusion spread of something more widely.
Globalization regional economies, societies, and cultures have become integrated through a global network of communication, transportation, and trade.
Traditionalism traditional views or practices, mostly with regard to cultural or religious matters.
Fundamentalism Strict maintenance of ancient or fundamental doctrines of any religion.
Dialect A variety of a language that is characteristic of a particular area, community or group, often with small differences in vocabulary, style, spelling and pronunciation.
Lingua Franca common language used by people of diverse backgrounds to communicate with one anothe.
Ethnic religions religion with a concentrated distribution whose principle are likely to be based on the physical characteristics of the particular location in which its creators are concentrated.
Animist religions A belief that spirits inhabit some or all classes of natural objects.
Polytheism Belief or existence of many gods.
Universalizing religions a religion where the followers attempt to appeal to all people, and seek concerts wherever they may live in the world, not just to those of one culture or location.
Monotheism The belief in a single god, deity, spirit, especially within an organized religion, faith, or creed.
Missionaries person who travels attempting to spread a religion or creed.
Mosques Place of worship for Muslims.
Hajj Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca that takes place in the last month of the year, and that all Muslims are expected to make at least once during their lifetime
