ADA diet American Diabetic Association Diet, refers to calculated diet plans
AHA diet American Heart Association Diet, refers to calculated diet plans used primarily to reduce risk of heart disease
Bland A medical soft diet further altered to omit acid-producing beverages, and restrict seasonings. May have altered feeding intervals
cl liq or CL Clear liquids only: ginger ale, tea, broth, gelatin, lemon-lime soda drinks, coffee
DAT Diet as tolerated
Enteral feedings tube feeding (into stomach or small intestines)
FF or PF Force or Push fluids; increasing the liquid intake by addition of extra fluids
F liq Full liquid with addition of milk and milk products; liquid at room temperature
High fiber Refular diet with increased amounts of foods containing dietary fiber
Low chol restricted cholesterol (200-300 mg)
Low fat Restricted fat (<30% of total calories)
Low Na, low salt, salt free restricted sodium, ordered by mg or Gm of sodium desired (2 Gm Na, 1000 mg Na)
Low res Low residue, alteration in texture, and limited food selection to yield little intestinal residue
Mech soft Mechanical soft, a regular diet with alteration in texture only
Med soft Medical soft, alteration in texture, preparation methods and seasonings
NAS No added salt, usually 4-6 gm NA
NPO Nothing per os (nothing to eat or drink orally
O.J. orange juice
Reg reular diet ("house" or "normal"), a balanced diet without restrictions
