Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A, type beta) - ID bacitracin test: place disk on blood agar, org. not grow around disk (90%); antibody agglutination: mix antibody with org. on slide, + = clusters group together, - = mixture stays cloudy (100%)
Streptococcus pneumoniae beta hemolytic; flora - oral, ears, sinuses, eyes; lancet shaped in pairs; can make a capsule; stickyness causes pneumonia
Group B, type beta: Strep normal in female vaginal tract = no harm; baby can pick it up through birth = harm
Group D Streptococcus sausage-like shape; can look like all three hemolytic types; resistant to antibiotics; changed genus -> ENTEROCOCCUS; normal in gut flora; ID: catalse does not produce oxygen
