What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy? *Based on the premise that its not what happens to us that causes us problems, but how we perceive that problem.
What is the Psycho-dynamic Model? (Mental health) *Intra-psychic conflicts lead to anxiety and then to defense mechanisms. When the coping mechanism is inadequate a mental disorder can result.
What is the Humanistic Model? (Mental health) *Emohasis on the holistic view of the person; individual, the present and personal meanings are valued. *Who is the self? Who do I want to be? *When there is incongruence between the ideal self and the real self, anxiety occurs.

Definition of Psychosis? A disturbance in thought,mood and behaviour in which the individual has little to no insight into their condition.
What was Schizophrenia originally called? Dementia Praecox
Symptoms of Schizophrenia? *Disturbed thought processes. *Disturbed affect (flat, elated, labile). *Disturbed perception (hallucinations). *Disturbed Volition. *Disturbed psychomotor behaviour.
What are the positive symptoms of Schizophrenia? Hallucinations and delusions.
What are the negative symptoms of Schizophrenia? Decreased emotional response, poor eye contact, Avolition and Anhedonia.
Schizophrenia treatments? Medication, Counselling therapy and ECT.
