initiate therapy of these drugs 2weeks before pollen season and throughout pollen seasone corticosteroids and mast cell stabilizers
instruct pt to use these drugs on a regular basis, not just prn corticosteroids
reinforce to pt that the spray acts to decrease nflammation and effect is not immediate corticosteroids
discontinue if nasal infection develops corticosteroids
NasalCrom: generic and class cromolyn spray , mast cell stabilizer
tell patient these sprays prevent symptoms mast cell stabilizers and anticholinergics
tell pt this drug may reduce the need for other rhinitis meds anticholinergics
this drug can be use 10-15 min before exposure to a known allergen to control symptoms mast cell stabilizer
Accolate :generic and class zafirlukast- LTRA
singulair- generic and class montelukast- LTRA
zyflo generic and class zileuton-LTRA inhibitor
monitor LFT's periodically while on these drugs LTRA
Take these drugs on an empty stomach LTRA
May cause churg strauss ltra
not to e used for acute attacks LTRA
Atrovent- generic and class ipratropium , anticholinergic
atrovent, time of onset of action? one hour
Optimine, Dimetaine, Chlor trimeton, Tavist, Polaramine, Xyzal are all examples of: first generation antihistamines
claritin, zyrtec, allegra, clarinex are all examples of : second gen antihistamines
sudafed- class and generic oral decongestant, pseudoephedrine
dristan: class and generic nasal decongestant, oxymetolazone
neo-synephrine: class and generic nasal decongestant, phenylephrine
Astelin: class and generic nasal decongestant, azelastine
these drugs should not be used more than three times a day for 3 days nasal decongestants
long use of nasal decongestants increases the risk of what condition of the nose? rebound vaso dilation, increasing congestion
