What the some conditions associated with liver disease jaundice, ascites, portal HTN and esophageal varices
Jaundice occurs when serum bilirubin >2.5 mg/dL which can be caused by ANY condition which impairs the liver ability to excrete bilirubin. *<- can be broken down by sunlight
Ascites an accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity, almost 80% of cases are caused by cirrhosis chronic scarring
what is treatment for ascites diuretics, sodium restriction, paracentesis
Hep A (HAV) generally the illness lasts 8 weeks transmitted via the oral fecal route primarily through the ingestion of food infected with the virus via poor hygiene
Hep B transmitted via percutaneous and mucosal routes, found in the blood, saliva, semen, vaginal secretions
