Sputum specimen should be taken at what time of day, and how much should be obtained? Early morning sterile specimen, from suction or expectorant to get antibiotic treatment prescription, and 15 ml after patient rinses mouth.
What is a bronchoscopy? Direct visual examination of the larynx, trachea, and bronchi with fiberoptic bronchoscope.
Key points related to post procedure of bronchoscopy. Assess return of gag reflex, monitor for bloody sputum, complications like bronchospasms, bronchial perforation indicated by facial or neck crepitus, dysrhythmias, fever, hypoxemia, pneumothorax.
Where is the pulmonary angiography fluoroscope catheter inserted? Through the antecubital or femoral vein into the pulmonary artery or one of it's branches.
What might the client experience following injection of the dye for pulmonary angiography? Urge to cough, flushing, nausea, salty taste.
Flow rates of oxygen delivery masks.
