Aqua mephyton doses - 0.5 - 1 mg im within two hours of birth, maybe repeated if signs of bleeding, in preterm infants with no muscles mass, dilute and give over 10 to 15 minutes with the infant monitored with cardiorespiratory monitor
Aqua Mephyton adverse reactions edema, erythema, pain at injection site, hemolysis, jaundice, hyperbilirubinemia, particularly in preterm infants
Aqua mephyton nursing considerations middle third of vastus lateralis, 25 gauge, 5/7 to 7/8 needle, clean injection, insert at 90 degrees, aspirate, and inject slowly. Rub gentle on injection site with a dry gauze to decrease pain and observe for signs of bleeding at site

Erythromycin nursing consideratio give 1-2 hours after birth, open eye by putting a thumb and finger at the corner of each lid and gently pressing on the preiorbital ridges, ointment from inner canthus of eye to outer, do not touch tube to eye, after 1 min excess ointment may be wiped off
Methergine uses postpartom bleeding when oxytocin is not effective

Methergine dosage and route - 0.2 mg im q 2-4 hours up to 5 doses, 0.2 mg iv only for emergency
