When is baby due? |
Does Dr expect any problems w/delivery? |
Is this your 1st baby? |
How Many Preg? |
How many live births? |
Miscarriages? |
How far apart are your contractions? |
Examine reassure pt-crowning, abnormal bleeding? |
Report 2 evaluator presence of prolapsed cord/abnormal presentations |
Open OB kit |
Attempt 2 cleanse area & drape |
W/1 hand gently apply pressure 2 baby's head to prevent explosive delivery |
As head emerges, using other hand gently apply genlte pressure to perineum directly below vaginal opening to prevent tearing |
Report to scorer presence or absence of cord around baby's neck when head becomes visable |
If cord is present loosen from around baby's neck |
Slip cord over baby's head |
As soon as head is available, clear airway by suctioning baby's mouth & nose w/ bulb syringe |
Gently apply downward pressure on head to release upper shoulder |
Gently apply upward pressure on head 2 release lower shoulder |
Hold baby securely w/firm but gentle pressure |
Again suction airway w/bulb syringe |
Stimulate baby by vigorously drying or rubbing back or flicking bottom of baby's foot |
Wrap baby in clean blanket for warmth |
Double clamp cord. 1st clamp 6-8 in form baby, 2nd clamp 2-4 in form 1st clamp toward mother |
Cut cord between 2 clamps |
If cord is cut, dress both ends w/sterile dressing |
Give baby 2 mother |
Externally massage uterus |
Place placenta in plastic bag for transport |
