Infection is the process or state whereby a pathogenic (disease producing) agent invades the body or a body part, multiples, and produces injury.
Escherichia coli (spell this)- is a common gram-neg bacteria found in normal human bacterial flora; however, some strains can cause severe and life threatening diarrhea.
Salmonellosis- is a common bacterial infection caused by any of more than 2000 strains of salmonella.
Campylobacteriosis- is an infectious disease caused by bacteria of the genus Campylobacter. It is the most common bacterial cause of diarrheal illness in the US.
Group B streptococcus (GBS)- is a bacterium that causes illness in newborns.

Antibiotics- are used to treat infectious diseases in plans, animals, and humans. They may be natural or synthetic substances that inhibit the growth of or destroy microorganisms, especially bacteria.

Anaphylactic Shock Sx include? facial or laryngeal edema, dyspnea, cyanosis, circulatory collapse, and convulsions.
Superinfection a condition that may occur when there is overgrowth of a resistant strain of bacteria, fungi, or yeast.
Cephalosporin’s they are chemically and pharmacologically related to the penicillin’s.
Tetracycline’s- advise the client to avoid direct and/or artificial sunlight, as they are more sensitive to it and may suffer a sun burn.
Aminoglycosides- they can cause irreversible damage to the auditory branch of the 8th cranial nerve (acoustic nerve). Here you are going to look for signs of: Ototoxicity- N/V, tinnitus, vertigo, acute loss of hearing. Nephrotoxicity- oliguria and proteinuria.
Anthelmintics: stromectol, vermox, and antiminth.

Helminthiasis (spell this)- is a condition in which there is an intestinal infestation by parasitic worms.
This is the pneumonia that is most prevalent in AIDS patients: Pneumocystis carinii (spell this)
Antiseptics- are substances that prevent or inhibit the growth of microorganisms.
Disinfectants- are substances, usually of chemical origin, that kill vegetative forms of microorganisms.
Germicides are agents that kill or destroy microorganisms.
