dilated/fixed pupils | indicate brain damage- in the absence of systemic drugs |
one fixed pupil | indicates increased ICP |
neuro checks focus | focus on four areas" Vitals, LOC, pupil reaction, motor function |
Cushing's triad | classic signs of ICP-rising sytolic blood pressure, widened pulse pressure, bradycardia with a full or bounding pulse |
brudzinski's sign | passive flexion of the head and neck causes flexion of the thighs and legsindicates meningeal irritation |
kernig's sign | inability to extend the leg from 90 degree flexion at hip due to pain spams in hamstrings indicates meningeal irritation |
Nuchal rigidity | tests for pain and stiffness in the neck |
lhermitttes sign | electrical sensation of sever pain that travels down spine when chin is tucked. |
