federalism A form of government in which power is divided amongst the federal (national), state, and local governments.
Parliament The Legislative Branch of goverment in Canada.
Executive The branch of government that carries out the laws.
Legislative The branch of government that makes the laws.
Judicial The branch of government that interprets the laws.
representative democracy A form of government in which voters choose their leaders to make and enforce laws.
President The leader of the Executive Branch of government in the United States.
Congress The Legislative Branch of government in the United States
Prime Minister The leader of the Executive Branch in Canada
The seperation of powers The idea that government should be divided into different branches that each have their own responsibilities and powers. Branches should share power equally and no one branch should have more power than the others.
