Health Education Any combination of planned learning experiences to provide ppl with info/skills needed to make decisions
Two objectives of health education/counseling Change health behaviors and improve health status
Health Belief Model Used to predict and explain health behavior, Explains the role of valures and beliefs
Self-efficacy Refers to an individual's belief in being personally able to perform a req. behavior
Precontemplation A person is not intending to make changes within next 6 months
Contemplation A person is considering a change within the next 6 months
Planning/ Preparation A person making small or sporadic change withiin the next month
Action A person actively engaged in behavior change persisting for 6 months
Maintenance A person sustaining the change over time
What is the Nurse's job in the planning step? Help initalize the plan and get the stumbling blocks out the way
What is a correct form of cognitive objective? Dan will correctly select food choices based on his diabetic meal plan.
What is a correct form of affective objective? Dan will verbalize the importance of checking is blood glucose before each meal and bedtime.
What is a correct form of psychomotor objective? Dan will demonstrate proper technique and dosage when giving an insulin injection to self
