What does Isotonic fluids do Balance volume doesn't change levels replaces or restores
What does Hypotonic fluids do They hydrate the cells and deplete the circulatory system
What does Hypertonic fluids do to replace eletrolytes and to shift fluid from the cells to the blood
you are to flush the IV site how often to ensure patency Q 6 hrs.
CDC recommends tubing change no more often than 72 hrs.
S/S of fluid overload moist crackles, edema, weight gain, dyspnea, and shallow tachypneic resp.
S/S of Air Embolus dyspnea & cyanosis, hypotension, Chest, shoulder, and low back pain, loss of consciousness, weak and rapid pulse.
