Element | any of the more than 100 known substances (of which 92 occur naturally) that cannot be separated into simpler substances and that singly or in combination constitute all matter |
Compound | A compound is a chemical species that is formed when two or more atoms join together chemically, with covalent or ionic bonds. |
Molecule | two or more atoms which have chemically combined to form a single species. |
Hydrogen Bond | Chemical bonding in which two molecules are linked together by one or more hydrogen atoms. |
Ionic Bond | A chemical link between two atoms caused by the electrostatic force between oppositely-charged ions in an ionic compound. |
Ion | an atom or molecule which has gained or lost one or more of its valence electrons, giving it a net positive or negative electrical charge. |
Covalent Bond | A chemical link between two atoms in which electrons are shared between them. |
