List the types of elder abuse physical, sexual, emotional, financial, neglect, abandonment, self-neglect
Physical abuse use of physical force that may result in bodily injury, physical pain or impairment.
Sexual abuse nonconsensual sexual contact of any kind with an older adult
Emotional abuse infliction of anguish, pain or distress through verbal or nonverbal acts
Financial abuse illegal or improper use of an elder’s funds, property or assets
Neglect the refusal or failure of a person to fulfill any part of his or her obligations or duties to an older adult
Abandonment the desertion of an older adult by an individual who has physical custody of the elder or by a person who as assumed responsibility for providing care to the elder
Self-neglect behaviors of an older adult that threaten the elder’s health or safety
Signs & symptoms of Physical abuse visible bruising, wounds or fractures or less visible is an elder’s report of being hit or mistreated or a sudden change in an elder’s behavior
Signs & symptoms of Sexual abuse bruises in the genital area or unexplained vaginal bleeding, photos being taken
Signs & symptoms of Neglect living in unclean conditions or being malnourished or dehydrated
Signs & symptoms of Financial or material exploitation unexplained disappearance of funds or valuable possessions
