What is the Healthcare system? It refers to the different kinds of providers, facilities and payers involved in delivering medical care.
Describe long-term care and what type of care it involves it is given in long-term care facilities to people who need 24-hours skilled care
Another name for long-term care facility is skilled nursing facility
Describe Adult day service it is a type of care for people who need some assistance and supervision during certain hours
Acute care it is 24 hours skilled care given in hospitals for people who require short term and immediate care for illness or injury
Subacute care it is care given in hospitals or long term facilities for people who need less care than for an acute illness but more care than for a chronic illness
Rehabilitation Care given by specialists to restore or improve function after and illness or injury
Hospice care Care given to people who have approximately six months or less to live
People who live in long term care facilities are usually called Residents
Chronic illnesses or conditions means the illness or condition last a long time
A form of health insurance in which patients are encouraged to receive care from a network of approved providers, but can see other providers at an additional cost PPOs (preferred provider organizations)
People or organizations paying for healthcare services Payers
A form of health insurance in which the cost of care is covered only when a person uses a particular doctor or group of doctors except in case of emergency HMOs (health maintenance organizations)
