Cortisol carries out which five important functions? Stimulation of gluconeogenesis (formation of glycogen from noncarbohydrate sources), which occurs in the liver in response to low carbohydrate intake or starvation; breakdown of increased protein and mobilization of free fatty acid;
Cortisol (continued) Suppression of immune response; assistance with stress response; assistance w/maintainance of BP and cardio function.
Androgens are? Male sex hormones
Adrogens' functions are? Promote male traits, esp. secondary sex characteristics, i.e. facial hair, low-pitched voic.
Estrogens' functions are? Promote female traits. Also thought to be responsible for sex drive.
