Is there a cure for HSV? Management options? | No cure- HSV is a lifelong disease! Lidocaine and Acyclovir for prophylaxis (prevention) can help manage HSV. |

What are some signs/symptoms of HSV? | Vesicles that eventually crust over, burning, tingling, and erythema. |
What causes Herpes Zoster? | Herpes Zoster, also known as shingles, occurs because of the chickenpox virus. |

What are some signs/symptoms of Herpes Zoster? | Vesicles that eventually crust over, erythema, severe pain, paresthesia (pins and needles/tingling). |
What is the treatment for Herpes Zoster? | Acyclovir within 72 hours. |
What is Tinea? | Ringworm. Dermatophytes (fungi) infect the skin. |

What is Candida albicans (yeast)? | Fungal infection caused by yeast. |
What is a yeast infection affecting the mouth? (Common in newborns). | Thrush/ oral candidiasis. |
What is a yeast infection affecting an immunocompromised person? | Mucocutaneous candidiasis. |
What is the treatment for Candida albicans (yeast)? | Nystatin mouth rinse or Diflucan. |
What is Impetigo? | Skin infection caused by Staphylococci and Streptococci. Lives in nasal passages- common in children! Acute & very contagious. |

What is the treatment for Impetigo? | Bactroban |
What is Cellulitis? | A generalized infection usually with Staphylococcus or Streptococcus. Involves deeper tissues. |
What are some signs/symptoms of Cellulitis? | Rapidly progressing inflammation, redness, warmth, edema, tenderness, pain. May be accompanied with lymphadenopathy & fever. |
