thrombophlebitis inflammation of a vein associated with a blood clot
aneurysm a ballooning out of the wall of a vessel, usually an artery
arrhythmia irregularity of loss of rhythm of heartbeat (aka dysrhythmia)
thrombosis formation of internal blood clots
splenomegaly enlarged spleen
lymphoma cancer with in the lymphatic system
lymphadenitis inflamation of the lymph nodes
lymphadenopathy any disease of the lymph nodes
lymphadenoma enlargement of lymphnode (not to be confused with lymphedema)
lymphedema accumulation of lymph in tissue and the resultant swelling (swelling of lymphs)
open reduction exposing a broken bone by surgery and aligning it
closed reduction pulling a broken bone into alignment with out surgery
arthroscopy direct visualization of the interior of a joint using an arthroscope
arthroscope special fiberoptic endoscope used for direct visualization of interior of a joint (arthroscopy)
arthropathy any disease of a joint
arthrotomy incision of a joint
tendoplasty surgical repair of a tendon
ankylosis immobile and stiff joint
endoscope device that allows observation of the inside of a hollow organ or cavity
endoscopic pertaining to viewing inside, pertaining to endoscopic examination. (endo=inside, scop=to view, ic=pertaining to)
endocardium lining inside the heart
pericardium the sac that encloses the heart (sac around the heart)
pericarditis inflammation of the pericardium (sac around the heart)
cardiomyopathy disease of the heart muscle
endocarditis inflammation of the lining of the heart
cardiomegaly enlarged heart
arteriopathy disease of the arteries
arteritis inflammation of an artery
arteriosclerosis hardening of the arteries
arthrocentesis procedure extracting fluid with a needle from synovial joints (entry into a joint space with a needle to remove fluid)
hematopoiesis the formation and development of blood cells (generally takes place in the bone marrow, but some WBC's are produced in lymphoid tissue)
kyphosis humback or hunchback (exaggerated curvature of the spine)
scoliosis lateral curvature of the spine
quadriplegia paralysis of the arms and legs (quadri=4, plegia=paralysis)
paraplegia paralyss of the lower portion of the body and of both legs
strain excessive use of a part of the body to the extent that it is injured or trauma to a muscle caused by violent contraction or excessive forcible stretch
arthralgia joint pain
osteoarthritis form of arthritis in which one or many joints undergo degenerative changes, particularly loss of articular cartilage. (DJD degenerative joint disease)
arthritis inflammation of a joint

osteomalacia abnormal softening of the bone (skeletal disorder characterized by a disturbance in bone metabolism)
