What is the action? | 1. Increase excretion of sodium and water by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal tubule |
What are the uses? | 1. Treatment of hypertension, 2. Treatment of edema due to renal dysfunction, 3. Adjunct in treating edema due to CHF, hepatic cirrhosis, corticosteroid/estrogen therapy |
What are the Major side effects & adverse reactions of the CNS? | dizziness, vertigo, paresthesia, HA |
What are the Major side effects & adverse reactions of the EENT? | blurred vision |
What are the Major side effects & adverse reactions of the GI? | anorexia, N/V and diarrhea, jaundice |
What are the Hem. major side effects & adverse reactions? | agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia |
What are the Major side effects & adverse reactions of the Int.? | urticaria, photosensitivity |
