TermDefinition
Chronic illness an illness that is long lasting or recurring and usually interferes with a person's ability to perform activities of daily living.
Developmental Stage an age-defined period with specific psychological tasks that need to be accomplished to maintain ego as proposed by Erik Erikson.
Health a condition in which all functions of the body and mind are normally active.
Hopelessness subjective state in which a person sees limited or unavailable alternatives; lacking energy.
Illness the state of being sick.
Powerlessness perceived lack of control over a situation.
Reminiscence therapy use of life reflection with a therapist to resolve conflicts or bring closure to life events.
Respite Care short-term, intermittent care for the chronically ill; provides rest for family members or caregivers from the stress of sustained care giving.
Spirituality sense of connectedness with all of life and the universe.
