Anastomosis An operative union of two hollow or tubular structures
Colostomy Surgical formation of an opening of the colon onto the surface of the abdomen through which fecal matter is emptied
Effluent A liquid, solid, or gaseous discharge from an ostomy; usually composed of fecal material
Enterostomal Therapist Nurse that is specially trained in the treatment of clients with ostomies
Excoriation Injury to the skin’s surface caused by abrasion
Ileostomy Surgical formation of an opening of the ileum onto the surface of the abdomen through which fecal matter is emptied
Stoma An artificial opening b/w a cavity and the surface of the body
