6. Culture Is a system of learned beliefs and behaviors that is practiced by a group of people
7. Cliches Are phrases that are used over and over again and do not really mean anything
8. Objective Information Information based on what a person sees, touches, or smell
9. Subjective Information Information that a person cannot or did not observe, but is based on something reported to the that may or may not be true
10. Incontinence The inability to control the bladder or bowels
11. Cyanotic Blue or gray, in reference to skin color
12. Incident an accident, problem, or unexpected event during the course of care that is not part of the normal routine in healthcare
13. Sentinel Event An unexpected occurrence that results in grave physical or psychological injury or death
14. Impairment A loss of function or ability
15. Farsightedeness The ability to see objects in the distance better than objects nearby also called hyperopia
16. Nearsightedness unable to see things clearly unless they are relatively close to the eyes, owing to the focusing of rays of light by the eye at a point in front of the retina; myopic.
17. Cerebrovascular Accident CVA, or stroke, occurs when blood supply ti a part if the brain blocked or a blood vessel leaks or ruptures within the brain
18. Hemiparasis Weakness on one side of the body
19. Expressive Aphasia Trouble communicating thoughts through speech or writing
20. Receptive aphasia Difficult understanding spoken or written words
Emotional Lability Inappropriate or unprovoked emotional responses, including laughing, crying , and anger
